The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, has warned judges against granting frivolous ex-parte orders to politicians.

During a meeting yesterday with seven chief judges (CJs) believed to have fallen short of expectation, the CJN threatened action for any jurist found wanting henceforth.

He had queried the CJs of FCT, Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Jigawa, Anambra, and Imo states for issuing conflicting ex-parte orders at different times.

Muhammad warned that the National Judicial Commission (NJC) “will no longer condone any nonsense from any judge.”

A statement by NJC’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, quoted the visibly angry CJN as noting that, “a damage to one jurisdiction is a damage to all.”
